S Meter Lite Configure Dialog Box

This dialog box is used to configure S Meter Lite to work with your radio. This dialog is also the gateway to the Calibration dialog box, which is a part of Configuration.

Radio connected to COM port #

Select the COM port number from a set of choices on a drop-down list, 1 through 8. The initial value is COM port 1.

Enable DTR

Check this box if you want S Meter Lite to turn on the COM port DTR modem control line when you click Run. This is necessary when your radio interface receives operating power from the DTR line. If your DTR line controls your transmitter, be sure to turn this control off.

Enable RTS

Check this box if you want S Meter Lite to turn on the COM port RTS modem control line when you click Run. This is necessary when your radio interface receives operating power from the RTS line. If your RTS line controls your transmitter, be sure to turn this control off.

Radio Selection: Yaesu

Click this button if your computer is connected to a Yaesu radio. The initial value is not set. If you click this button, then select your particular radio model from the drop-down list to the right.

Radio Selection: ICOM

Click this button if your computer is connected to an ICOM radio. The initial value is set. If you click this button, then select your particular radio model from the drop-down list to the right.

Baud Rate

This selection only applies to ICOM radios. Select the baud rate of the COM port connected to the radio from the drop-down list. Make sure that the baud rate configured in S Meter Lite is the same rate set in your radio. If you select a baud rate under 4800 baud, it may not be possible to sample the radio S Meter at the normal 20 Hz rate (the communication is simply too slow).

Radio Address

This selection only applies to ICOM radios. Select the radio address of your radio from the drop-down list. The list choices are specified as a hexadecimal number that counts from 00 to FF. Make sure that the radio address configured in S Meter Lite is the same address set in your radio.

Set Defaults

This button only applies to ICOM radios. Click this button to restore the baud rate and the radio address to their default values.

Do not demand command echo

The standard CI-V bus is a half duplex channel because all data passes over a single wire. Not only is it impossible to both send and receive data (either the computer or the radio) at the same time, but whatever data is sent will also be received by the sender, since the transmitter is connected to the receiver. This means that S Meter Lite normally expects to receive an echo of all data sent to the radio. In some situations, the computer is connected via a special interface to an ICOM radio. This interface provides a true full duplex channel. This means that the computer will no longer receive the data that it sends to the radio. In that special, check this control so that the software does not demand a command echo.
