This page contains information and pictures for the 2012 year. It was created because all of the previous pages were simply getting to be too big for a reasonable download time. To see information and pictures from previous years, please visit this page.
Sighting continued to fall off in 2012. I have no explanation for that phenomena.
No matter what the reason, it's the start of another new year, and the first sighting was emailed to me on January 15, 2012.
Here are the sightings that I've heard about since January 1, 2012. These reports came to me via email.
As was the case in all previous years, here are pictures graciously emailed to me from folks who have spotted albino robins.
This albino was reported on January 15, 2012.
This partial albino robin was reported on March 21, 2012.
The folks who noticed this bird while taking an evening walk report that it is mated with a normally colored robin and the pair is working on a nest in a nearby pine tree.
This bird and the several before it on this page really show the extreme range of white, from not much to total.
The folks who spotted this bird spotted a second around the same time!
This bird has been in the family backyard since the beginning of the month.
This very photogenic bird has been in the neighborhood for several weeks. It may be the same bird that has been sighted for several years in the area.
This is the bird named Al that has returned to the same area in Niles, Michigan for four years in a row. With the light winter, it was first spotted back on March 11th. Check back on previous pages for more pictures and news of Al.
This bird looks very much like the first bird on this page, from Strongsville, Ohio. Because the eyes are not pink, I don't believe that this is a 100% pure albino, but otherwise, the bird appears white. Perhaps there is a little color on the top of the breast, but not much.
This is the bird that has been seen in the same area by the same person for 3 years. You can check previous years for Mastic Beach info. This picture was taken by wildlife photographer Alan Chasinov. The bird is once again collecting materials for a nest. It was spotted at the end of March, so it's clearly playing hard to get.
It's been a few weeks since the last sighting. Around my house, the robin eggs have already hatched and the babies have left the nest. This might be a little earlier than in other years, probably due to the unusually mild winter and spring. This bird was photographed in Elgin, Illinois, an outer Chicago suburb.
It's been a few months since the last sighting. This picture comes from Fort Collins, Colorado.
This may be the last sighting of the year. It's been a very slow year. I hope that the birds are fine, and that we are just not paying as much attention as we once did.
