S Meter Lite Main Window
This page describes the controls on the main program window.
Run/Stop
Starts and stops running. Running means opening the COM port, retrieving data, and displaying it. When you stop running, data collection is terminated and the COM port is closed. The Initial button text is Run (meaning that the program is stopped).
Help
Bring up the HTML Help Viewer at the Contents tab.
Hide/Restore
Refolds and unfolds the main window. When you click on Hide, the main window will refold, or reduce in size to hold just the S Meter bargraph. When you click on Restore, the main window will unfold to its full size, revealing the Data Graph, and additional controls. In fact, the partition between the two window sizes occurs right after this button. In other words, all controls already described on this page are always visible. All controls described below this point are only visible when the main window is at its full size. The initial button text is Hide, meaning that the window is unfolded and full size.
Mark
Click this button to add a vertical red line to the Data Graph. This visual marker lets you keep track of different regions on the Data graph. This button is enabled only when the program is running and updating.
Erase
Erase the Data Graph. All data is removed from the window. New data will be added starting at the left edge of the window.
Update Rate
The Update Rate box contains 5 radio buttons that select the update rate. You can only select one button at a time, and at least one button is always selected. The initial value is 0.50 seconds.
.25 Sec
Set the Update Rate to 0.25 seconds. Since S Meter Lite samples the S Meter at 20 Hz, a 0.25 second Update Rate will accumulate 5 samples before computing the minimum, maximum, and average values.
.50 Sec
Set the Update Rate to 0.50 seconds. Since S Meter Lite samples the S Meter at 20 Hz, a 0.50 second Update Rate will accumulate 10 samples before computing the minimum, maximum, and average values.
1.0 Sec
Set the Update Rate to 1.0 second. Since S Meter Lite samples the S Meter at 20 Hz, a 1.0 second Update Rate will accumulate 20 samples before computing the minimum, maximum, and average values.
2.0 Sec
Set the Update Rate to 2.0 seconds. Since S Meter Lite samples the S Meter at 20 Hz, a 2.0 second Update Rate will accumulate 40 samples before computing the minimum, maximum, and average values.
Never
Set the Update Rate to Never. Never means that updating is turned off. The data graph will not change, and the minimum/maximum/average data green bar will be removed from the S Meter window.
dB/S Unit
Toggle between the S Unit scale and the dB scale. Whenever the scale is changed, the Data Graph is erased. The initial button text is dB, which means that the S Unit scale is being used.
Configure
Bring up the Configuration dialog box.
Copy
Copy the Data Graph bitmap to the system Clipboard. Use Paste in another application to retrieve the image.
Antenna Plot
Bring up the Antenna Pattern Plot dialog box.
About
Bring up the About dialog box.
Exit
